Trump says he may withdraw AG nominee until these two senators are out of office

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he may withdraw Todd Blanche’s nomination for U.S. Attorney General until GOP Senators Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and John Cornyn, R-Texas., are out of office.
Todd Blanche is a STAR, and everyone knows it! He has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time. However, John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee, who will remain, in any event, as Acting. Remember, both Cornyn and Tillis voted for Merrick Garland, and others, too numerous to mention. I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office. President DONALD J. TRUMP

“Todd Blanche is a STAR, and everyone knows it!” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. “He has the potential to go down as one of the Greatest Attorney Generals of All Time. However, John Cornyn, of Texas, and Thom Tillis, of North Carolina, both of whom I refused to Endorse, and whose political careers have been ended by my action, are refusing to vote for this Great Nominee, who will remain, in any event, as Acting.”

Blanche, who serves as U.S. Acting Attorney General, had his confirmation hearing earlier this month where he was grilled by senators about his record as Trump’s personal lawyer and how he handled the files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Sen. Cornyn said Thursday that he was leaning towards not advancing Blanche’s nomination.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday evening canceled a meeting to consider Blanche’s nomination.

Chairman Grassley works to set President Trump’s nominees up for success in committee, not failure. Senators Cornyn and Tillis want written assurances from the Department of Justice regarding the Trump-IRS settlement,” a spokesperson for Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, said in a statement,

Trump slammed Cornyn and Tillis for voting for Merrick Garland, who served as attorney general under President Joe Biden.

Remember, both Cornyn and Tillis voted for Merrick Garland, and others, too numerous to mention,” his TRUTH post concluded. “I have no objection to temporarily withdrawing Todd’s name, if they do not do the right thing, and putting him back after Cornyn and Tillis are out of office.”
