South Side resale shop damaged in early morning fire

SAN ANTONIO - A fire damaged a South Side resale shop early Tuesday morning on the South Side.

Firefighters were called just before 2 a.m. to the business off South Flores Street near Lorraine Avenue after smoke was seen coming from the building.

When crews went inside, they found the fire had already burned itself out because it ran out of oxygen. However, some of the flames had spread into the attic, where insulation continued to smolder.

Firefighters had to remove part of the ceiling to reach the remaining hot spots and make sure the fire was completely out.

The resale shop sustained moderate damage.

One firefighter twisted an ankle while working at the scene but did not require any further medical attention.
