Traffic stop turns into crash and foot chase on Southeast Side


 SAN ANTONIO - A traffic stop on the city's Southeast Side Tuesday afternoon turned into a crash and foot chase, ending with a 26-year-old man facing multiple felony charges.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a trooper attempted to stop a white Lexus around 3:05 p.m. near the intersection of Pecan Valley Drive and East Southcross Boulevard for a traffic violation.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of a nearby business but then backed into the trooper's patrol vehicle as the trooper approached. The driver then got out of the Lexus and ran from the scene.

DPS said a Taser was used during the chase, allowing the trooper to take the driver into custody.

The driver was identified as 26-year-old Daveion Ruiz-Carroll. He is charged with evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, aggravated assault against a peace officer, possession of more than four ounces but less than five pounds of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
