SAN ANTONIO - Jury selection is set to begin for the man accused of killing his wife, confessing to the crime and then sparking a massive manhunt across Bexar County.
Potential jurors will be brought into court today, where attorneys for both sides will question them before a jury is selected. The process could take all day.

Charles Byrd is charged with murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his wife, Angela Byrd.
The case began on July 19, 2025 when Byrd's adult son told authorities his father had confessed to killing his wife, prompting an extensive search across Bexar County.
Angela Byrd's body was later found wrapped and concealed inside the single-wide trailer the couple shared in far South Bexar County.

Authorities arrested Charles Byrd days later after finding him hiding inside a home near Pleasanton Road.
Court records say Byrd later confessed during questioning, telling investigators he killed his wife during an argument about a month before her body was discovered.
Investigators have said the killing stemmed from a jealous rage.
At the time, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Byrd admitted trying to delay his capture.
"He took steps to conceal the body. He was asked what his endgame was, in other words, did he think he was going to get away with this," he said. "He described to us that he felt pretty certain he was going to get caught as a result of it, but he was trying to prolong the process as much as he could. Basically stay free as long as he could."
