SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs signed forward Tobias Harris, the team announced Monday.
Harris started all 63 games for the Detroit Pistons last season and averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.92 steals in 27.7 minutes per game. He scored more than 20 points 10 times, reached 15 or more points in 24 games and recorded three double-doubles.
Harris helped lead the Pistons back to the postseason and their first playoff series victory since 2008. During the playoff run, he averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.50 steals in 34.6 minutes per game.
The Pistons selected the Dix Hills, New York, native with the 19th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft out of Tennessee. Over his career, Harris has averaged 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.80 steals in 31.4 minutes across 1,033 games, including 913 starts, while shooting 47.8% from the floor and 36.6% from beyond the arc. In 81 career playoff games, he has averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.00 steals.
As he enters his 16th NBA season, Harris ranks among six active players with more than 1,000 career games, 16,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 500 blocks.
