Authorities are continuing to investigate after a man and a woman were found dead inside an apartment at the Arroyo Seco Villas, leaving neighbors shaken and searching for answers about what happened.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified the victims as 27-year-old Meritxell Pimentel and 24-year-old Mark Ferrel on Tuesday.
The medical examiner ruled Pimentel’s death a homicide and Ferrel’s death as suicide. Both died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Raul Hernandez, who lives at the complex, said he watched deputies arrive yesterday afternoon after the bodies were discovered. Hernandez said neighbors were talking about what may have led to the deaths.
“What I heard from neighbors, it was a possible murder-suicide,” Hernandez said.

Investigators said both victims were in their 20s and that a single gun was found next to them. Authorities said both victims had gunshot wounds and that they were not looking for other suspects. Investigators said the deaths appeared to be the result of foul play between the two, possibly a murder-suicide.
Hernandez said he had not seen anything like it at the complex before.
“Have you seen anything kind of like this around the area? No, this is the first time. maybe apartments next door or down the street or whatever might be a short story, but in this apartment complex is the first time,” Hernandez said.
Community advocates, including Eagles Flight, said summertime is typically a period when violent incidents can spike and that such cases can involve family or domestic violence.
“Bexar County has such a high incident of domestic violence issues, that's just historically correct statement to make....This is the harsh reality of what summers look like here in Bexar County,” the advocate said.
