SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police Chief William McManus is set to retire by next Friday after 20 years, according to a city press release.
The release states McManus has accelerated his retirement from the City of San Antonio from September 30 to July 10.

McManus will not be saying goodbye to the Alamo City however, the city says he has accepted an employment opportunity in San Antonio.
The Pearl announced McManus will join the company as Vice President of Safety & Security. The new role will have responsibility for ensuring safety and security at all Silver Ventures real estate developments, hotels, restaurants, retail shops and entertainment venues.

McManus became San Antonio’s Police Chief in April 2006. He officially announced his retirement in January.
