President Trump posted to Truth Social, stating the U.S. is reinstating the blockade at the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran publicly declared Monday the Strait of Hormuz to be closed again, according to an official Iranian maritime body.

The Persian Gulf Strait Authority was established by Iran to regulate and control commercial vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

What they’re saying:

The agency posted on X blaming recent “hostile action” by the United States for causing them to close the Strait of …Hormuz.

President Donald Trump told FOX News “we’re taking over the Strait” on Monday, adding “everything was agreed to” in an 11-hour meeting Sunday, but Iranian negotiators later called back, suggesting some changes.

Hormuz.

The backstory:

The United States and Iran are nearly halfway through a 60-day peace deal where the two sides were negotiating an end to hostilities and an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and permanently reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iran  has maintained the right to manage traffic through the strait and potentially charge fees.
